Senior Scientist
Dr. Tang joined ChemImage Corporation in 2007 as a Senior Scientist. Dr. Tang’s work includes applying and implementing novel approaches to the improvement of ChemImage LCTF technology for Raman, Fluorescence, and Near Infrared chemical imaging applications. Specifically, Dr. Tang uses his expertise to exploit new concepts and applications related to multi-mode simultaneous hyperspectral imaging systems utilizing the theoretical and numerical approaches for liquid crystal optics. Dr. Tang also oversees the related production, processing, characterization, manufacturing and development of ChemImage LCTF technology. This includes simulating, enhancing and optimizing the LCTF and evaluating optical devices for the current and future support of threat detection, biomedical and industrial detection and imaging.
Before joining ChemImage, Dr. Tang worked at the Liquid Crystal Institute of Kent State University. While there he performed research in liquid crystal dynamics and optics, and obtained the Samsung research award. Before working at Kent State, Dr. Tang worked for Verizon and GTE laboratories as a senior member of the technical staff and senior software engineer. Before coming to the U.S., Dr. Tang worked as a senior visiting scientist at Rigaku Corporation in Japan. He also taught and established national Key laboratories at Dalian University of Technology in China. While in China, Dr. Tang also worked as a technical advisor for China National Technical Import and Export Corporation.
Dr. Tang has a Master’s degree in Physics from University of Massachusetts,a Master's degree in Computer Science from University of Texas, and a PhD in Chemical Physics from Kent State University.
