Patrick Treado, Ph.D - Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Patrick Treado is the Founder of ChemImage Corporation. Since 2004, he has served as the Chief Technology Officer for ChemImage. Dr. Treado is an analytical spectroscopist and recognized leader who has pioneered the field of chemical imaging. Dr. Treado is the author of over 150 publications and patents on chemical imaging technology, methodology and applications. In his role as CTO, Dr. Treado supports ChemImage’s growing patent portfolio, and the development of next-generation Chemical Imaging technologies, including those being validated with government sponsored support.
From 1994 to 2004, Dr. Treado served as President and CEO of ChemImage Corporation (formerly ChemIcon Inc.). At the time he founded ChemImage, Dr. Treado was a tenure-track faculty member in the Chemistry Department of the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Treado received his B.S. in Chemistry from Georgetown University; Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Michigan; and received postdoctoral training at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Treado was awarded the prestigious Coblentz Memorial Prize for his groundbreaking work on Chemical Imaging performed at the NIH and at the University of Pittsburgh. One of Dr. Treado’s inventions, ChemImage’s FALCON Raman Chemical Imaging Microscope, was recognized with an R&D 100 Award as one of the most significant new products in 2001. Dr. Treado continues to provide service to the scientific community currently serving as Raman Imaging Task Force Chair for ASTM Subcommittee E13.10 on Molecular Spectroscopic Optical Imaging which is responsible for developing a Standard Practice for evaluating Raman Imaging Instruments. Dr. Treado also serves on the AOAC International Methods Committee on Biological Threat Agents (Committee L) which is setting AOAC Official Methods for detection of bioagents.
