The primary application for the EAGLE is in the identification of threat agents at the microscopic level using Raman spectroscopy (Raman microprobe). The EAGLE does this in a format that can be transported into the field, requiring only electrical power for operation. In addition, the EAGLE is a transportable automated microscope system providing video imaging in both brightfield and UV-excited fluorescence modes for use in forensic and general material analysis.
