New Frontiers In Biomedical Analysis: Raman Molecular Imaging

Internal research and development into the application of wide-field chemical imaging in biomedicine is an active area of growth at ChemImage. We use the term Raman Molecular Imaging (RMI) in Biomedical and Clinical applications to highlight the fact that the molecules locally present in a sample give rise to the contrast in the images. Our focus is on bringing RMI into a context where clinical and research professionals can use the techniques and information that it provides.

Active Areas of Research and Development Include:

  • Image processing and analysis
  • Tissue image based diagnosis
  • RMI information management
  • Automated image acquisition and analysis of Raman images

The key concept underlying RMI is that the complex molecular environment carries important information about the physiologic or pathologic state of the cell or tissue without the use of reagents. Researchers and clinicians can use the information as it is displayed as an image. In this manner, our enabling technology allows us to identify a digital signature for inflammatory conditions, cancer, cellular transformation and more.
